Call me if you need to talk
I’ll listen without judging you
I’ll let you say whatever you need to say;
Call me when you need to talk,
I don’t mind if you cry,
Complain or get angry.
Call me if you need to hear my voice,
Call me any time
I’ll always have time for you,
I’ll always smile when I hear its you.
Call me when you’re feeling down,
I’m here for you
I love you.
Call me,
I’ll always have gentle words for you
There’s a place in my heart for you.
Call me if you need me,
When you think of me
or if you’re happy.
I’ll send you kisses,
I’ll plant my lips on your voice,
I’ll kiss your ear.
Call me when you want me,
or if you’re just lonely.
I’ll hold you through my words,
I’ll hang on to yours.
Call me if you need to be touched,
I’ll caress you with my voice,
Calm you with my tone,
Hug you in the embrace of my mind.
Call me when life’s too much,
I’ll help you work out the solutions,
When the problems seem unbearable.
Call me if you’ve lost your way,
I’ll tell you if you’re on the right track.
I won’t hide reality from you,
I’ll show you the reality behind your fears
And walk with you there.
Call me when you feel empty,
I’ll fill your heart and mind with love,
I’ll spend my time on you.
Call me, my friend, and you’ll find strength,
Strength to meet your troubles
And your sky won’t seem as dark,
Your path will be less steep.
I’ll help you see the treacherous cliffs,
and talk you safely along the narrow paths.
Call me when your eyes are sore and red,
and I will kiss them, soothe them,
My lips will brush your face in teh passing air,
My fingers will stroke your back,
The emptiness around you will be filled by my light,
Warmth and presence.
Call me, and the silence of your room
Will become your sanctuary,
Holding you in my care long after we’ve spoken.
Call me, let me lift you on my shoulders,
Carry you up high,
So you can see life differently.
Call me so that I can lift your tired hands and hold them,
As we fly together beyond time,
Where you’ll know how special you are to me in timelessness.
I’ll show you the lengths to which I’ll go for you,
The depths where I’ll walk beside you if you need me,
I’ll show you the darkness, and bright light of life,
Where we’ll shine together.
Call me and you’ll read the book of my voice which has no ending,
A love story, adventure, drama, tragedy, romance.
Call me and let me love you.

M,
The poem when read promises love in abundance, showering the object of affection the bliss that only love could offer, giving reassurance if only the person in the receiving end would reciprocate and call.
But concealed in between the lines is a voice needing, longing, yearning ~ turning the table from somebody who offers to somebody who needs.
Call me if you need to talk could also mean call me I need to talk, we need to talk. It’s just a matter of who makes the first call.
This is a beautiful-love-poem of both friendship and a prelude to romance.
Do you love the person because you need that person?
or Do you need that person because you love that person?
I wish you well.
~ Jeques
postcripts: my weekend long hour work is extended until monday afternoon. I will be back to read your new post: regrets.
Hi Jeques,
Yes. This poem could be written or read in the 1st or 3rd person, and the meaning would be the same. It is an offer and a plea, a love-letter and an expression of need and desire. Perhaps that is true for most love – its about need, giving, taking, desire, support, comfort, attraction, communication.
In fact, when writing it, I felt that it could even be about a relationship with the self – a plea to one’s self to ask for and recieve support from within. So often there is no support from others, and one must find it within.
I think we often the have reserves from which to replenish ourselves, if we go about it properly. Sometimes that is the only escape from loneliness.
Take care,
M.
